Overhead transmission lines for and against
Parašė Admin· 1970.01.01

Nowadays we could see overhead transmission lines poles in the streets, yards, squares. there are a lot of transmission structures it supply for 120 volts to 138,000 volts. As we know, everything has some advantages and disadvantages. So I would like to talk about it.

First of all I would like to say, that the overhead lines is cheap to mount. There are poles, which you just make a supplying line connecting then with the cables. Nowadays you can use a llot of different construction poles, for example: metal pole, which has a hard construction and supply high voltage. Secondly I would like to say, that you can supply not only electrician lines, but include telephone, telegraph, line alarm, traffic light or control. Because there is no influence in adjust communication circuits. So it is usefull to use one pole.

I see and several disadvantages. First disadvantage should be, that the trees are near the poles or growing into. Trees are ttrimmed, cut down. We have to do it making a line, to control them. Secondly, I would like to say, that these overhead poles is not beautiful for our city. Thirdly, direct contact with people, indirectly through cars hitting poles, ssagging or corroded conductors- all of affect reliability of service.

Finally I would like to say, that I don’t use overhead lines. but we use it (our city-town council) because it is cheap and has a lot of function.
